Erika Feinberg

Title: Chairman
Company: Independent Living Products
Age: 39
Residence: Scottsdale
Phone: 480-767-9200
E-mail: erika@ilp-online.com [update email: EFeinberg@ActiveForever.com]

What is your proudest moment professionally? "There's no one single moment. I've enabled a large number of clients to over-achieve their professional goals. In return, they've become active philanthropists, making significant contributions to the world and setting great examples for others. That's what makes me jump out of bed with a smile every morning."

What is your current goal in life, and how will you reach it? "Having Independent Living Products recognized as the source of every federal, state, foundation and health care organization's ability to extend quality, caring and cost-efficient health care products into the home and workplace of every patient.

"How will I reach it? Provide an unparalleled experience to people with special needs by working very hard and surrounding myself with extraordinary people."

What is your favorite free-time activity? "Watching my children experiencing something interesting and fun for the first time, and listening to their thoughts. Writing, reading, playing with and hugging my husband not necessarily in that order."

How do you define success? "Having a positive impact on people in every way possible, and making myself and others a nice return on investment in the process. Success is about freedom; the freedom of time to share with the people I love and to give back."

How do you get through the difficult times in life? "I handle tough times from the altitude of 50,000 feet; I remove myself from the emotional core and put everything into perspective."

American Express, SCORE Recognize ActiveForever as Business Success Story

by Tue, April 24 2012 06:40

Scottsdale-Based Medical Supplies Company Credits SCORE's Mentor Services, American Express OPEN with Prosperity

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - February 24, 2008 - ActiveForever, a leading medical equipment supplier and healthcare products innovator was recently recognized by SCORE, a non-profit organization that provides entrepreneurs with small businesses advice, as one of its regional success stories. Utilizing both the advice of SCORE's volunteer business counselors and the financial benefits of the American Express OPEN small business program, ActiveForever has enjoyed unprecedented growth and success in the five years since the company was purchased and re-designed by CEO Erika Feinberg.

"Here I was, a technology executive, knowing how to run a company, and knowing how to run a web business, but knowing nothing about the print catalog business, a warehouse and distribution center business, advertising and absolutely nothing about running a multi-location retail business. You could imagine my relief to find out about the existence of SCORE. There's nothing better than the luxury of being able to stand on the shoulders of old pros who all have their areas of expertise. I say that in present tense because even though ActiveForever is no longer a small company, our issues are getting a bit more complex, and SCORE still comes to the rescue." says Feinberg.

SCORE "Counselors to America's Small Business" was founded in 1964, and has since helped thousands of small business achieve success through the expert advice of its 10,500 volunteers nationwide. The business counselors at SCORE consist of both working and retired executives and business owners who dedicate themselves to entrepreneur education. Through this education, SCORE encourages the formation, growth, and success of small businesses nationwide.

ActiveForever utilized the advice from multiple counselors at SCORE, ranging from an attorney to a retired pharmacy owner, to help deal with everything from marketing its company to dealing with unprecedented growth. "Turning to the SCORE counselors is a dream. Due to the complexity of my needs, SCORE deployed a team of counselors to our brand new headquarters five years ago, and it was like working with learned parents who tells it as it is. There was no hidden agenda, and each counselor brought unique expertise to the table." states Feinberg.

The other integral part of ActiveForever's success was the use of the American Express OPEN small business services. OPEN is a team at American Express, dedicated to serving the needs of small business owners through a combination of products and services. ActiveForever optimized the use of its American Express Business card to help manage the company's product inventory acquisition, and has used the card's rewards points for everything from travel expenses to office supplies. "We certainly leverage the reward points program to its fullest. We have avoided significant business expenses by using points for all of our travel, and even leveraged the points to help outfit two of our facilities with new tenant improvements and equipment acquisition. We also take advantage of the points for employee incentives, and even ski trips," tells Feinberg.

Feinberg herself has become a mentor to CEO's running both large and small businesses. She institutes very creative and well thought out operational and marketing programs that have enabled the ongoing success of ActiveForever. To arrange Erika Feinberg to speak at your next corporate sales training, customer service training or marketing conference, contact Richard Chandler, Media Contact.

ActiveForever Opens New West Valley State-of-the-Art Education Center, Interactive Retail Store and National Distribution Center

Leading Medical Equipment and Supplies Provider Supports Growth with the Opening of Retail Distribution Centers in Arizona

PEORIA, AZ - November 2, 2007 - ActiveForever, a leading medical equipment supplier and healthcare products innovator has grown its interactive retail and distribution centers to include Arizona's West Valley. The company is known for its life changing product solutions which cater to and aid people with various injuries or physical challenges. Due to the demand of its increasing customer base, the company is opening a location in Peoria, AZ which will include national fulfillment, an interactive retail store and a state-of-the-art education center. The Grand Opening of the store will be November 10, 2007 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. During these hours there will be a give away every hour on the hour, product demonstrations, a few hot rods for show and breakfast. The cause-related campaign titled "Life Changing Gifts" will benefit the following organizations: the ALS Association, the Arthritis Foundation, the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Research Center The Alzheimer's Association and the Foundation for Senior Living.

The location was chosen specifically for the demand increase in the West Valley. This centralized location at Olive Avenue and the 101 Freeway has access to some of Arizona's most popular urban and economic centers in addition to numerous hospitals and healthcare systems. ActiveForever's CEO, Erika Feinberg was involved first hand with the planning and implementation of the center.

"Designing and building ActiveForever has been one of the most thrilling experiences of my life," exclaimed Feinberg. "It is so much fun watching someone experience ActiveForever in person."

Feinberg emphasized the importance of customer feedback to the creation and growth of the center. "Our customers are normally very smart and live active lives. They often offer exceptional insights that keep us on track. Their feedback keeps us excited and doing the right thing for the communities we serve."

The ActiveForever education center will house a conference room that can be reserved by the public for life planning or health related programs and support groups. The room is outfitted with network cameras allowing remote access to demonstrations and seminars as well as health screenings. The retail store will contain a variety of top selling health innovations including mobility aids, bathroom safety equipment, pain management supplies, rehab equipment and low vision products.

The company will also continue its involvement with local community organizations and causes. In November ActiveForever will be launching its "LifeChangingGifts" campaign during the busy holiday season. ActiveForever.com Leg Health Days Event - Compression Stockings Key to Healthy Legs

by Fri, July 08 2011 09:07

The idea of compression stockings as ugly and worn only by elderly woman is outdated, and everyone from athletes to stylish young women are understanding compression hosiery are the key to healthy legs. In addition to being treatments for deep vein thrombosis and lymphedema, compression stockings also decrease swelling in your legs/ankles (pay attention frequent travelers, pregnant women, and those of you who work on your feet all day), help prevent varicose veins (the removal of which can cost thousands of dollars), and more. With those things in mind, ActiveForever.com and BSN Medical have teamed up to present Leg Health Days, July 18-21, 2011 at retail stores and online.

The public is invited to attend this FREE, Healthy Legs event at ActiveForever’s retail locations in the Phoenix, Arizona area (specifically in Scottsdale, Arizona and Peoria, Arizona). At either of the ActiveForever.com retail locations you’ll be able to have a complimentary personalized fitting for compression garments, and trained staff will be available to answer your questions about compression accessories and stockings. In addition, this free event will feature discounts on all Jobst compression products, gifts with purchases, ActiveForever giveaways, coupons, and more!

On Wednesday, July 20, 2011, the ActiveForever.com retail store in Peoria, Arizona will have all of the above along with food, drinks, prizes, and experienced compression specialists on-site. If you’re on the other side of the Valley, drop by ActiveForever’s Scottsdale, Arizona retail store for all of the same on July 21, 2011. Both days offer a fun, luxurious shopping experience (we know, those aren’t things you normally associate with a medical supply store).

On a more serious note, it is a sad truth that many healthcare professionals aren’t (or weren’t) even taught the difference between anti-embolism stockings (T.E.D hose) and compression stockings so you may have been prescribed (from the beginning) the wrong product for your health needs. At Active Forever we see this often among our customers, and the Leg Health Days are one way to help you be more informed (though free food, drinks, and prizes never hurts). The complaints of compression stockings being uncomfortable are often the result of ill-fitting compression stockings or the wrong product all together.

For those of you who aren’t able to attend the Leg Health Days events in person, we’ve put together an easy-to-understand explanation of compression garments (from stockings to athletic recovery socks) on our compression stockings page on our website.

Also, starting July 18, 2011 to July 21, 2011, you can receive the same discount on all Jobst compression products online! When you are completing your purchase online (or over the phone) simply use the discount code JOBST and the discount will be applied to your purchase. Feel free to share this information with your friends and family, and pass on our invitation to anyone you know in the Phoenix area.  ActiveForever.com is excited and honored to be presenting the free, Leg Health Days event with BSN Medical, and offer customers information and discounts on compression stockings (and accessories) along with personalized fittings, prizes, giveaways, food, and drinks at ActiveForever’s retail locations and compression stockings discounts online.

Great Gift Ideas from ActiveForever Employees

by Fri, November 26 2010 08:27

Our employees keep sending us GREAT holiday gift ideas! Here are some more of their suggestions:

Mike: The Xtensor is perfect for recovery after a lot of gaming. Really could have used this after Call of Duty: Black Ops came out. I've never had such horrible numb thumb as I did that weekend. This is a great tool for gamers and would be a welcomed addition to my stocking this year. Dynaflex balls are amazing. They provide a complete upper body workout with a 4" diameter ball. It's great for golfers, gamers, and any sport that requires grip strength and dexterity. PEP and vibration therapy is great for my cigarette-stained lungs. It breaks up the tar and mucus and crap that has built up over the last decade, and helps me to breathe deeply without wheezing and coughing. I also have apnea and snore like a dying hippo, and this helps me to open up my airways and sleep without asphyxiating myself. Holiday Gift Ideas

Holiday Gift Ideas Jessica: I use my Onion Goggles all the time. My eyes are very sensitive and ten to tear up when I chop onions (or watch Titanic). With the Onion Goggles I can chop all the onions I want without getting irritated eyes. My Noise Canceling Headphones are great for the office, especially when it gets noisy. I can work in peace with irritating noises distracting me.

Isabella: The Sleepypod Mobile Pet Bed is a great holiday gift idea for animal enthusiasts. It is not only stylish and unique, but it provides my furry four-legged "child" with a comfortable place to rest while at home or while traveling. My dog LOVES how comfortable his new bed is. The DermaNew Microdermabrasion System Total Body Experience Kit is a great holiday gift idea for women because it helps them gain more confidence. It smoothes and tones my skin, making it look more youthful and radiant. This kit contains everything I need helps me save money on spa treatments. Holiday Gift Ideas

Holiday Gift Ideas Tomasz: The Versa Bell dumbbells are single handedly the best and most economical purchase I've made in the last year. The ability to have a range of dumbbells in one small consolidated spot makes for a perfect "home gym" in my apartment, without the bulky dumbbell rack you'd find in an actual gym. The ease of weight changing adds to the benefits as a simple spin of the knobs on either end adjusts the weight in 5 pound increments, making for quick downtime between your sets. The portability of having 10-25 pounds in two dumbbells rather than 10-15 individual dumbbells makes this the perfect gift for any college student or a home gym!

Happy Holidays from everyone at ActiveForever!

More Employee Favorites for the Holidays!

by Wed, November 24 2010 07:19

Here are a few more gift idea suggestions from ActiveForever employees!

Kallista: The Yoga TRAINERmat makes a great gift because not only is the mat of a great quality and eco-friendly, but the convenient guide on the mat allows for the user to follow along and do a complete yoga class from the comfort of their living room. The IMPRINT Anti Fatigue Kitchen Mat also makes a great gift. If you know someone who loves to cook, this kitchen mat would be their best friend. The mat provides a comfortable cooking experience and reduces pain and fatigue. It can also be used in the kitchen, laundry and garage and is easy to clean. Holiday Gift Ideas

Holiday Gift Ideas Matt: I like the Spa2Go Portable Spa. Nothing is better in chilly weather than a steamy hot tub! The TrekDesk is also a great gift for people looking to lose weight in the New Year. You can use your treadmill AND stay productive at the same time. The DKN Xg10 Vibration Machine is also great for losing weight without putting too much stress on your joints.

Cari: I ABSOLUTELY love the Slanket. I have 3 at home and we use them all the time. It's much better than a Snuggie. I also LOVE the Bed Buddy. I use it for my neck and back. My back always hurts & I sit at a computer all day, so the moist heat is wonderful and relieves my achiness - it helps me relax at night too. Perfect for the winter. Holiday Gift Ideas

Employee Favorites for the Holidays

by Mon, November 22 2010 04:53

We asked some of our employees to tell us which ActiveForever products they like and which ones would make great gift ideas. Here is what a few had to say:

Eva: Body Back Buddy - I love the fact that I don't have to ask someone else to relieve my knots, and I am always a fan of being self-sufficient. Gel Pro Chef Mat - I love cooking, and any sort of relief on the legs is much appreciated. This is just the product for that. Biofreeze Pain Relieving Gel - I love the fact that after the marathon, this product eased my pain. I recommend it highly to anyone with any sort of sore muscles.

Gel Pro Chef Mat

iTouchless Trashcan

Courtney: I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the iTouchless Trashcan. I have purchased 5 of them! I have one and I got one for my mom, my aunt, my cousin and my boyfriend's dad. It looks nice, it's sanitary and it's a great conversation piece if you have parties. It always gets a lot of attention from new people who come to my home. The Teeter Hang Ups Inversion Table is another good one. I bought it for my dad about 2 years ago and he swears by it. He uses it 3-4 days a week and I use it every time I go to his house.

Colleen: I sent my parents some of the Yaktrax Walker Traction Cleats last year for Christmas because they live in Detroit and there iss ice and snow everywhere. They absolutely loved them!
