The Special Tomato Jogger Stroller from ActiveForever was mentioned in the Journal Review Online when it became the object of a fundraiser for Arianna Brady and her son Johnathan. The fundraiser was held at Creative Designs Hair Salon in early March.
Johnathan has no head control because of a condition he was born with called Lissencephaly. The Special Tomato product line is designed to provide head and body stability and support for special needs children.
The following excerpt is from the article:
Almost nine months ago Johnathan was born with a rare brain disorder called Lissencephaly (which means he was born with a smooth brain), Microcephaly (abnormally small head), eye conditions, a seizure disorder and is hearing impaired like his mother, who wears cochlear implants to hear.
“Is that it? It seems like there’s a lot more,” Laurie says as we sit in Creative Designs Hair Salon, Arianna holding the sleeping Johnathan. “The doctors didn’t give him a very good chance of living.”
But he survived the birth, and his first four eye surgeries and countless check-ups. He’s survived the better part of a year and continues to grow. Johnathan weighs nearly 25 pounds now and is getting too heavy for Arianna to carry all the time.
