Prescott Horses Need Your Help

ActiveForever-logoFor those of you who may not know, a vicious wildfire has burned through more than 7,000 acres near Prescott over the past few days according to the Prescott National Forest. The ‘Doce’ Fire has led to the evacuation of about 200 homes northwest of Prescott near the Granite Mountain Wilderness area.

Hundreds of evacuees have left their horses at the “Prescott Frontier Days” fairgrounds until they are able to return to their homes, which won’t be any time soon. The horses are currently without basic provisions and are in serious need of water receptacles, hay and alfalfa.

ActiveForever’s Patricka Fletcher has graciously donated 5 bails of alfalfa, which she purchased from Olsen’s Grain. Right now Olsen’s is not charging a delivery fee for those who would like to donate to the displaced horses of Prescott.

According to Patricka, (who grew up in Prescott,) alfalfa is the cheapest and the most nutritious option.

People who would like to donate can also call the American Red Cross. Every bit helps!

Prescott, the horses and ActiveForever Thanks you!!

The ActiveHalo GPS system has a wide range of features to track and monitor your employees and fleet equipment.

The benefits of using ActiveHalo GPS as a profitable business tool are only limited by your imagination.

Employee Safety

Every business owner knows that their employees are their most valuable asset. Our ActiveHalo GPS services can be used by any company who needs to keep an accurate record of where his or her employees are located.

The ActiveHalo GPS will give your company’s employees an extra layer of security.

When employees travel to remote areas as a part of their job, i.e.; fleet managers, delivery drivers, construction workers, and sales people you can easily find their last location.

When traveling in rural areas the smallest accident can quickly turn into a life-threatening situation especially when weather conditions are less than ideal. In this situation the nearest emergency assistance is usually miles away.

Employees appreciate the peace of mind the ActiveHalo GPS offers. They know if they ever find themselves in an emergency situation, company personnel can help them immediately by broadcasting direction, speed and position to emergency responders.

The ActiveHalo GPS SOS feature activates with the  press of the “SOS” button, located on the front of the ActiveHalo GPS unit. The SOS feature allows responders to find you with pinpoint accuracy.

ActiveForever and Aquabilt: Celebrating a Decade of Success Together

ActiveForever-logoActiveForever CEO, Erika Feinberg, knows a good product when she sees one. She was one of the first to believe in the revolutionary Aquabilt Aquatic Treadmill when it arrived on the scene roughly a decade ago.

Aquabilt Aquatic Treadmill

During the cold winter months, when you’re not using you pool, bring the Aquabilt inside for use as a manual treadmill. $1,249.00

That show of support meant a lot to Aquabilt LLC owner, Robert Adley. He and Erika remain business allies to this day. He was recently made aware of Erika’s upcoming birthday celebration. We’d like to share with you his heartwarming message:

Erika Feinberg, representing ActiveForever, was one of the original five customers who saw the Aquabilt Underwater Treadmill when it was the first aquatic treadmill and believed it had a future.

In the first three years I was travelling around the country and working trade and home shows by myself, which can be a daunting way of life.

I recall very clearly a phone conversation I had with Erika in ’04. She asked if I was going to be at the Phoenix Home Show. When I said yes, she volunteered to work the booth with me.

As I recall, there was considerable interest in the product, which was still unknown to nearly everyone, but no sales at the show.

However, Erika was not discouraged by that result, and continued to support our product on the ActiveForever website.

Today we have nearly a decade-long business relationship. To me, that constitutes a meaningful level of support and loyalty which requires recognition. Aquabilt and I will be delighted to participate in Erika’s birthday celebration by providing ActiveForever with an Aquabilt Underwater Treadmill demo unit.

Thank you for making me aware of this event.

Best regards,

Congenital Heart Defect survivors and their stories

February 7-14th is Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Week. Congenital Heart Defect, also known as Congenital Heart Disease, (CHD) is any birth defect which affects the heart or the large blood vessels. Congenital means that the defect is present at birth.

Congenital Heart Defect is considered to be the most common birth defect, and is a leading cause of birth-defect related deaths worldwide. Congenital Heart Disease affects approximately 1.8 millions families in the United States according to the Congenital Heart Information Network (C.H.I.N.)

The inspirational and heart-warming Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Week Pinterest page is something you don’t want to miss. Here are some of the CHD survivors on that page and their stories:

Kaden (above) was diagnosed with Transposition of the Great Arteries the day he was born. He had open heart surgery at 12 days old. Complications during and after the 11-hour surgery led the surgeon to believe his heart wouldn’t sustain life. He went home two weeks later. He has pulmonary stenosis and a small VSD but is doing amazingly well.

Olivia (left) was born with half a heart as a result of a severe and complicated congenital heart defect known as Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). During the past four years she has endured three open-heart surgeries, five heart catheters and a stroke.

Norah (right) was born with Heterodoxy, an ASD, VSD, interrupted IVC w/ Azygos continuation, an Intestinal Malrotation, minor Hydronephrosis, Pulmonary Stenosis and Polysplenia (she has 2 functional spleens). She had Ladd’s Procedure when she was 5 weeks old and open heart surgery at 9 months.

Mother says:
“We were fortunate enough to know she’d have a CHD before birth. It was tough to go through the pregnancy not knowing what would be wrong with her (bad news started when I was about 12 weeks along), but always loving her. She was, and IS, perfect. It took a long time to remember that she was perfect (at least to me) before I knew about her conditions and that they didn’t change anything. She was still the baby I loved, she’d just have a more colorful story than some.”

Health Mark for Prevention of Heart Disease and Heart Attacks

After years of aggressive marketing efforts on behalf of womens’ health advocates and organizations, the long-held misconception of heart disease as being a predominantly male issue is beginning to fade.

The widely understood concept of an actual heart attack and the process in which it manifests is perhaps still a little behind the times however.

When you think of the term, heart attack, or cardiac arrest, what sort of image pops into your head? It’s most likely a man, experiencing a sudden onslaught of pain that takes over his whole body in a moment. His face registers agony as he clutches his chest and is no longer able to stand. A horrific occurrence which no one should have to endure for sure, but it is not the whole story.

For women, the process is infinitely more subtle and therefore harder to detect. Whereas men experience extreme tightening of the chest, for women it has been described as more of a discomfort. This is followed by flu-like symptoms such as fatigue, nausea, dizziness, difficulty breathing and even insomnia.

Health-Mark-Port-a-Vibe

The Health Mark Port-A-Vibe is the only ‘Whole Body Vibration’ machine built to accommodate a space conscious or fluid lifestyle. $259.00

What it boils down to is this:

Heart disease is the #1 killer of women in the United States today. It is a deadly and widespread disease with common, nondescript symptoms that are easily and very often ignored.

By the time a woman seeks treatment it is often too late.

Consider the times (like these,) when the flu virus is rampant. It’s no surprise that heart disease in so many women goes undetected.

Health Mark carries a line of affordable cardio machines for prevention such as the Port-a-Vibe Whole Body Vibration Machine.

Their extensive line of products also includes some really smart devices such as this Body Tone Heart Rate Monitor.

Health Mark Heart Rate Monitor

The Health Mark Heart Rate Monitor allows you to keep track of your heart rate so it stays in the right zone for optimal health and fitness. $64.55

Customizable preset functioning allows for individualized and thus more accurate readings.

No matter how it’s done, it’s crucial to know the symptoms and the signs of heart disease and to be pro-active about your health and the health of those around you.

Rain Soaking your Outdoor Exercises? Have a Ball Instead!

Sure this near-constant cover of rain and drizzle for the past few days is outstanding for the drought-ridden desert ecosystem that is Phoenix, but it’s murder for an exercise routine that includes running, walking or biking outdoors. Even heading to the gym can be a chore if walking through the parking lot gets you drenched to the core.

Speaking of core… Exercise Balls are an extremely effective way to target core muscles while working out indoors. They are available in different sizes, making them so versatile they can supply a fun, full-body work-out all on their own, or with a set of hand-weights. Too busy to work out? An exercise ball can even provide a work-out while just sitting at your desk.

The Health Mark Swiss Chair Ball is one of the best all-around fitness tools for core strength training as well as rehabilitation. Training with an exercise ball helps to fine tune coordination and increase muscle tone. With just this simple tool, users can enjoy all the benefits of low-impact workouts without the need for gym memberships or costly training sessions. Exercise balls don’t require a lot of room, are easy to store and maintain and are perfect for when inclement weather discourages venturing out of doors.

Health Mark Swiss Chair Ball

The Health Mark Swiss Chair Ball is a key fixture in the home of fitness-minded individuals. Even as a chair it provides a quality core work-out. $83.30

Putting “wellness” through the wringer

“Life is not merely to be alive, but to be well.”

According to those who keep track of such things, this idea–which is true even today–was expressed long ago by a Latin poet named Marcus Valerius Martial. He was born March 1, 40 and died between 102 and 104 AD.

What do you think Martial was referring to exactly? What does it mean to be “well” or to have “wellness” in your life? It’s a bit of a nebulous idea, is it not? It’s one of those situations where it’s not so easy to describe, but very easy to know when you’ve got it… and when you don’t.

We believe Martial’s use of the all-encompassing “well” runs parallel with our belief in the importance of holistic, comprehensive methods of health care.

We prefer it when a physician takes a complete snapshot of their patient. He/she should ask a broad spectrum of questions and take at least the larger aspects of their patients’ lives into consideration before making a diagnosis.

At ActiveForever we apply this philosophy to our own everyday operations; from our relationships with our loyal customers to the range of different products we carry.

After all, people are puzzles. If just a single piece is missing or out of place, the whole picture is askew.

People are also unique. What makes one person tick can absolutely sink another, and so on. We can’t help but believe it’s wise to view the art of healing through a wide lens.

Do you agree?

ActiveForever and CMTA

Did you know that Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease (CMT) currently affects roughly 115,000 Americans of all ages?

The hereditary, neurological disorder first diagnosed in 1886, is not life-threatening and almost never affects the brain. It does however, cause damage to the peripheral nerves. These nerves connect the brain and spinal cord to the muscles and sensory organs in our bodies. This neuropathy (nerve damage) causes muscles to become weak and deteriorate as well as a loss of sensation in the extremities.

The genetic causes of CMT were unknown as recently as 1991. As of now, scientists and physicians have helped to concretely identify 10 different genes linked to CMT. In all, there are a total of 30 genes in which abnormalities are thought to lead to CMT.

As part of their growing arsenal of partnerships, ActiveForever has joined forces with the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association (CMTA). Together we advocate for the support, education and pursuit of a cure for those afflicted with CMT.

We invite you to learn more about this cause and find out ways in which you can become involved!
