Shoulder Therapy and Rehabilitation

Most people don’t realize just how much they use their shoulders until an injury prevents them from doing even the simplest task. Most shoulder problems are caused by muscles, tendons, and ligaments within the arms that are overworked or forced into obscure positions. Orthopedic surgeons categorize shoulder injuries into two groups:  Instability, meaning the joint is dislocated or out of the socket, and Impingement, where the muscles rub against the top of the shoulder blade. There are a few basic exercises your doctor may suggest such as push-ups or pull-ups, but there are also a few devices which can help to alleviate pain and speed up recovery.

The Bauerfeind Omotrain Shoulder Support is a knitted shoulder brace made with elastic material that gives the wearer support without hindering their range of motion. This product provides support to the shoulder where pain exists to help you get through your day. The breathable knitting as well as the silicone inserts that contour to your shoulder make it very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time.  This product can be used on both arms and could treat rotor cuff injuries, shoulder pain, and grade I/II separations.
The Elasto-Gel Shoulder Therapy is a shoulder support pad that is extremely durable and very comfortable. It can be warmed in the microwave and used as a heat pad, or cooled to soothe minor muscle or soft tissue injuries.  The pad is filled with glycerin gel which is sealed in with an elastic four-way stretch fabric that allows the pad to contour to the wearer’s shoulder. Once it is strapped to the shoulder, the wearer can go about their day like normal. It is so easy to use and is designed to fit any shoulder.

The Door Pulley Exerciser was developed by a physical therapist and is used in hospitals all over the world to rehabilitate patients who have suffered from a stroke, rotor cuff injuries, or even just to stretch elbow, arm, and shoulder muscles.  It includes easy to install hardware with two pulleys that fit perfectly over almost any door. The handles are connected by a 7 ft. rope that feeds through the pulleys allowing the user a great range of motion. The Door Pulley Exerciser is very popular among Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and other rehabilitation specialists. This pulley system is a very inexpensive, functional, and practical solution to rehabilitating a shoulder injury by providing the same benefits as a clinic to help with a speedy recovery.
