Lady Gaga Could Benefit from some Far Infrared

Lady Gaga has cancelled her entire U.S. tour due to pains from Synovitis.

Medical tests revealed Gaga has a labral tear of the right hip. A hip labral tear involves the ring of soft elastic tissue, called the labrum, that follows the outside rim of the socket of the hip joint.

Often compared to lupus, Synovitis, also known as “Toxic Synovitis” is an inflammation within the hip joint. A diagnosis is obtained following an ultrasound or joint x-rays of the hip or blood tests.

What is going on in the body?

Synovitis is a non-traumatic hip pain, which means that it is not caused by an injury. Instead, pain is caused by swelling and inflammation in the hip. Synovitis often follows an upper respiratory infection such as a cold or flu.

What are the signs and symptoms of the disease?

  • pain in one hip
  • a limp or inability to bear weight because of the hip pain
  • low grade fever at the beginning of the illness
  • knee and thigh pain on the affected side
  • often the infected person does not appear to be ill

What are the causes and risks of the disease?

While Synovitis often follows an upper respiratory infection, the exact cause is not clear, so there is no known prevention.

According to The Detroit News (and others) Lady Gaga released the following statement when announcing the initial cancellations: “I am completely devastated and heartsick. I’ve been hiding this injury and pain from my staff for a month, praying it would heal, but after last night’s performance I could not walk.”

Far Infrared therapy has been known to be especially effective in relieving pain from inflammation or irritation such as that caused by conditions like Synovitis or lupus.

What is Far Infrared Heat?

Far Infrared is a band of light that we perceive as heat. While we cannot see infrared heat, we can feel its effects. Infrared radiation, or radiant heat, represents over half of the energy emitted by the Sun and is divided into three segments: near, middle, and far.

Infrared rays heat our body by a process called conversion. Through conversion, far infrared heat can penetrate organic substances such as the human body without heating the air in between. By using far infrared heat as opposed to traditional heating methods, you enable the heat to penetrate deeper into your body without the skin discomfort of heating pads, hot towels, and some pain relief gels/creams.

aflogo-96x96This little Light Relief Therapy device from ActiveForever relieves pain fast and effectively through the use of LED lights. It’s one of our best-sellers; completely portable and very compact, it can be carried with you anywhere as if it were a simple pack of band-aids. Featuring advanced infrared light therapy however, this “ActiveForever approved product” is anything but.

Infrared LED’s are housed in a soft, bendable little pad which can be placed on just about any part of the body. It differs from traditional heating pads, in that the infrared, LED light therapy penetrates deep within human tissue, allowing it to soothe inflamed muscles and joints from the inside, as well as increasing circulation and speeding the healing process.

The Light Relief Therapy is also available in a larger pad to cover areas like the back or most of the shoulder, arm or leg.

What is LED?

According to National Geographic, LED stands for “light emitting diode.” A diode is an electrical component with two terminals which conduct the electricity only in one direction. With an electrical current, the diode emits a bright light around the small bulb. Typically, diodes have been used in many technologies such as radios, televisions and computers as an electrical component for conduction.

Connecting a diode to an electrical current excites the electrons within the diode, making them release photons, which we see as light. The color of the light is a direct result of the energy gap in the semiconductor of the diode. This means that LEDs produce a spectrum of colors easily and brightly while using very little electricity to do so.
